Standard 2D flat cell culture has been an important tool in
biological research for decades, however, it has become
increasingly clear that flat cell culture is a rather poor model
for human physiology, while versatile 3D cultures are much more
similar to the living organism.
We have developed a 3D ProtoTissue™ System based
on a proprietary disposable bioreactor (the ProtoTissue™
Bioreactor).
This system provides an excellent cell growth environment
stimulating human cells to form 3D tissue-like structures
(ProtoTissue™) which mimicks normal in vitro
physiology.
Further R&D of our 3D ProtoTissue™ System is
currently conducted at Department of Biochemistry and Molecular
Biology (BMB) at University of Southern Denmark under guidance by
Prof. Stephen Fey who together with Ph.D Krzysztof
Wrzesinski have been instrumental in the development of the 3D
ProtoTissue™ System and validation of Liver
ProtoTissue™.
