Jesper J. Lange
President



Jesper J. Lange joined MC2 Biotek in 2006 from his position as partner in a leading Danish law firm. Prior to this he worked with law firm Kromann Reumert for 9 years, focusing on Intellectual Property Rights and Mergers and Acquisitions.


He graduated from the University of Aarhus, Law School and was admitted to the Danish Bar Association in 1997.


Jesper Lange also holds a Masters of Law (LLM) fromColumbia University, specializing in commercialization of intellectual property rights.

 

 

Niels C. Kaarsholm
VP Science & Technology



Niels C. Kaarsholm joined MC2 Biotek from a position as VP & Head of R&D at Fertin Pharma.


Prior to this Niels was VP & Head of Diabetes Protein Engineering, Diabetes Research Unit, Novo Nordisk A/S, where he was also member of the Diabetes Research Unit Management Team and the Diabetes Research Board. Former positions within Novo Nordisk include Head of Insulin Structure Department, Director of Insulin Formulation & Delivery projects and VP & Head of Insulin Engineering.


Niels C. Kaarsholm earned his M.Sc. in Chemical Engineering and his Ph.D in Physical & Biophysical Chemistry from the Technical University of Denmark and was a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Department of Biochemistry at the University of California, Riverside, USA.

 

 

Morten Præstegaard
VP Operations

 

Morten Præstegaard has a background in drug discovery, life sciences and consultancy research management.

 

He spent his first five years after graduation as Department manager for DNA & Cell Technology at BioImage (a Novo Nordisk spin-off company) and subsequently three years in Thermo Fisher Scientific as Research Manager for cell-based assay products and contract services to the pharmaceutical industry.

 

Before joining MC2 Biotek, he held a position as Senior Consultant with responsibility for advising European biotech companies and universities within preclinical drug development, diagnostics and life science R&D.


Morten Præstegaard has a Ph.D. in Chemistry & Biotechnology from University of Aarhus and is inventor of a variety of patents and has published several research papers in areas of cell biology and assay development.

Director, Hagedorn Research Laboratory 1989-1990 Director WHO Collaborating Center, Steno Diabetes Center/Hagedorn Research Laboratory for training in diabetes research.


MD University of Copenhagen, January 1964

Postgraduate training at Copenhagen area and the department of endocrinology at Karolinska Stockholm, Sweden and Royal Hammersmith Hospital, London.

Specialist degrees in internal medicine 1976 and endocrinology when this became a speciality in Denmark in 1984. Doctor Medical Sciences 1974.


Title of thesis:

"Addison's Disease". A review of Some Clinical, Pathological and Immunological Features, University of Copenhagen 1974.



 

Honorary offices

Member of MSAB for TrialNet (NIDDK) and Member Advisory Board (NIDDK Type 1 Diabetes Statutory Funds 2005). Member EAB TEDDY (NIDDK). President EASD

1998-2001.

 

Chair Advisory Board EFSD 2001-2004. Senior Advisor EFDS 2004-present.


Jørn Nerup has registered more than 480 publications in the fields of endocrinology, diabetes, genetics and immunology.

 

 

DEREK WHEELER
MSc, Managing Director

 

After obtaining degrees in Chemistry and Physiology at London University in 1963, Derek Wheeler began a career in analytical chemistry, product formulation, process engineering, marketing and general management for a number of major cosmetic and pharmaceutical manufactures.
 
He founded Disperse Ltd. in 1997 to develop and exploit patents on the polyaphrons dispersion technology.
 
Derek enjoys an international reputation as a leading dispersion scientist and is a member of the Society of Cosmetic Scientists where he is an examination question setter and marker.

He has been called as an expert witness and has widely written and lectured on dispersion issues and is the author of a number of patents.
