President
Jesper J. Lange joined MC2 Biotek in 2006 from his position as
partner in a leading Danish law firm. Prior to this he worked with
law firm Kromann Reumert for 9 years, focusing on Intellectual
Property Rights and Mergers and Acquisitions.
He graduated from the University of Aarhus, Law School and was
admitted to the Danish Bar Association in 1997.
Jesper Lange also holds a Masters of Law (LLM) fromColumbia
University, specializing in commercialization of intellectual
property rights.

Technology
Niels C. Kaarsholm joined MC2 Biotek from a position as VP &
Head of R&D at Fertin Pharma.
Prior to this Niels was VP & Head of Diabetes Protein
Engineering, Diabetes Research Unit, Novo Nordisk A/S, where he was
also member of the Diabetes Research Unit Management Team and the
Diabetes Research Board. Former positions within Novo Nordisk
include Head of Insulin Structure Department, Director of Insulin
Formulation & Delivery projects and VP & Head of Insulin
Engineering.
Niels C. Kaarsholm earned his M.Sc. in Chemical Engineering and
his Ph.D in Physical & Biophysical Chemistry from the Technical
University of Denmark and was a Postdoctoral Research Associate in
the Department of Biochemistry at the University of California,
Riverside, USA.

Operations
Morten Præstegaard has a background in drug discovery, life
sciences and consultancy research management.
He spent his first five years after graduation as Department
manager for DNA & Cell Technology at BioImage (a Novo Nordisk
spin-off company) and subsequently three years in Thermo Fisher
Scientific as Research Manager for cell-based assay products and
contract services to the pharmaceutical industry.
Before joining MC2 Biotek, he held a position as Senior
Consultant with responsibility for advising European biotech
companies and universities within preclinical drug development,
diagnostics and life science R&D.
Morten Præstegaard has a Ph.D. in Chemistry & Biotechnology
from University of Aarhus and is inventor of a variety of patents
and has published several research papers in areas of cell biology
and assay development.

Managing Director
After obtaining degrees in Chemistry and Physiology at London
University in 1963, Derek Wheeler began a career in analytical
chemistry, product formulation, process engineering, marketing and
general management for a number of major cosmetic and
pharmaceutical manufactures.
He founded Disperse Ltd. in 1997 to develop and exploit patents on
the polyaphrons dispersion technology.
Derek enjoys an international reputation as a leading dispersion
scientist and is a member of the Society of Cosmetic Scientists
where he is an examination question setter and marker.
He has been called as an expert witness and has widely written and
lectured on dispersion issues and is the author of a number of
patents.
