Through collaboration with the Medical Research Council and the
Agricultural Research Council in Cape Town, South Africa we have
identified a number of botanicals having beneficial physiological
effects.
In particular we have worked with certain extracts of such
botanicals that assist in the maintenance of normal blood glucose
levels and possibly reduce risk factor(s) for the development of
diabetes.
We are developing these botanicals as foods with health claims and
aim to partner with leading companies in this field. More information.
Through characterization and analysis of plant extracts we have
also identified RX-1 which is a small molecule having significant
anti-diabetic activity as demonstrated in our
pre-clinical studies in various animal models, presumably
through a novel mode of action.
We are developing RX-1 as a drug and our strategy is to conduct
key preclinical studies ourselves and then partner up with a
leading diabetes company for further development.

Our oral anti-diabetic projects are managed in a lean
organization in collaboration with research institutions, CRO's and
our Senior Scientific Advisor in Diabetes, Prof. Jørn Nerup.
